Report: Final Road Trip Ends in Defeat

Surrey Scorchers’ last away game of the 2015/16 BBL Championship season ended in defeat for the visitors, as the Sheffield Sharks cruised to a 101-77 victory in Yorkshire.

The teams exchanged points in starting minutes, with the scoreboard at 4-4, before Sharks made a fast break to take the lead 11-4. Anderson took a three point score at 13-9, but the Sharks continued to raise the stakes and made the score 24-11 before Scorchers called for time.

Anderson & Ogedengbe made the scoresheet with 32 seconds left in the quarter, but Sheffield stayed strong to maintain a 14 point lead at the end of Q1 (32-18).

The second quarter hit Scorchers hard, with Sharks scoring 25 points to Scorchers 9 and extending their lead to 30 points.

Scorchers re-grouped at the break and dug back to within 14 points of the Sharks in the third stanza. Ogedengbe and Schreiber took control, taking the score to 65-51 before Sharks re-grouped and took the quarter to 75-57, going in to the last.

Despite the efforts of Ogedengbe & his team, the final quarter saw the Sharks maintain their lead well, emptying their bench midway at 90-66. They broke through the hundred-point barrier and triumphed 101-77 to a crestfallen Scorchers team.

Ogedengbe, Schreiber & Anderson all hit double points, with 27, 15 & 16 respectively, but it was not enough to secure victory on their last away game in the campaign.

Scorchers are back at Surrey Sports Park for the final game of their inaugural BBL season, where they face play-off contenders Leeds Force in front of a sold-out home crowd!
