PREVIEW: SCORCHERS TAKE ON GIANTS

Scorchers are back in action at Surrey Sports Park tomorrow after a three-week break as they entertain the Manchester Giants in the BBL.

They were defeated by the Leicester Riders in their last game, but have had a red hot start to 2018, winning four of their six games in the new year.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side are unbeaten at home in the last four games, defeating the London Lions, Leeds Force, Plymouth Raiders and Glasgow Rocks as they continue their push for the play-offs.

Their opponents Manchester won only their third match of the season last weekend, defeating Leeds Force in front of the BBC cameras.

Scorchers defeated Manchester at home back in November with a convincing 95-70 performance.

The Giants recently added 6’7 American forward Isaac Banks to their roster, and are on the rise after the announcement of their new arena which is set to be completed by 2020.

Scorchers could be boosted by the return of Jordan Williams who is to face a late fitness test, who has missed the previous three games due to injury.

Creon Raftopoulos said: “We’ve lost one or two really close ones at the Sports Park but our fans have continuously been behind us.

“Getting a loud crowd in there helps the players unbelievably.

“People will expect the Manchester game to be a formality because they haven’t played that well but they have regrouped and they’ve got two new signings.

“We know it’s not going to be a formality and we have to turn up and give our best.”

Tip-off at Surrey Sports Park is at 7:30pm.
