The Opposition
Manchester Giants hit the BBL in the 2012/13 season, which saw them fall just short of the play-offs with a 9th place finish.
An average third campaign saw them finish in the same spot last season and failure to advance from both the Trophy and Cup first rounds, a record that they will be looking to improve on this year.
The Ones to Watch
British basketball legend Yorick Williams took the helm over the summer as player-coach, adding his GB and BBL Championship experience to the north-west side’s coaching setup.
Former Sheffield Sharks forward Olu Babalola will also prove to be a threat this season having already secured 44 points in Giants’ opening two wins so far.
The Roster
With all players attending training this week, Scorchers coach Creon Raftopoulos will have a full roster to choose from for Friday’s game.
The Form
Giants sit 3rd in the BBL Championship table after picking up season opening wins at Cheshire Phoenix (75-87) and at home to the Plymouth Raiders last weekend (95-89).
Scorchers meanwhile go into the game with a mixed bag of results, having picked up a last quarter win at Bristol Flyers (68-71) before suffering tough defeat at home to the Newcastle Eagles (65-98) last Friday.
