On Tuesday 31 July, a Surrey Scorchers Select play host to Bradley University men’s basketball team, The Braves, at Surrey Sports Park, with a 7:30pm tip-off
The American University side arrive in London on Sunday, July 29 with native Londoner Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye in their squad.
Bradley head coach Brian Wardle said of the trip: “It will be a great experience for all of us to learn about other cultures, become more connected as a team, develop our leadership and get a chance to compete against some good competition.
Once every four years, college basketball programmes are allowed to embark on a foreign tour and given 10 extra practices in the summer to prepare. Bradley’s trip is organised by Sports Tour International, which is run by Bradley men’s basketball alum Lee Frederick.
Scorchers head coach, Creon Raftopoulos commented: “We’re really looking forward to this first match of our pre-season preparations.
"We may not have a full squad yet, but playing against a competitive College team is something that the players enjoy and helps with our preparations for the new season.
"It’s a great experience for the visiting team and one that we hope the fans will enjoy.”
