Popoola re-joins Surrey

Former Guildford Heat point guard Lekan Popoola has signed for Surrey Scorchers and will travel with the squad for tomorrow’s season opener.

The 6’0” veteran will once again link up with Coach Creon Raftopoulos, having featured in the Heat roster for two seasons in the BBL.

Since then Lekan has spent three years at EBL Division One side Westminster Warriors.

As a former Nigerian international, Popoola will bring a wealth of experience to Scorchers on and off the court, having built up coaching experience with the Surrey Rams.

Lekan has joined up with the squad in time for Scorchers’ trip to Bristol Flyers tomorrow (Saturday) and has signed on a game-by-game basis, with a view to signing permanently in the future.
