Former London Lions guard Alex Owumi joins Scorchers for his 11th professional season in basketball.
Owumi, born in Lagos, Nigeria, spent the previous two seasons with London Lions after 3 successful seasons with Worcester Wolves.
During his time at Worcester Wolves he won the BBL Play-Offs and BBL Trophy in 2014 and left as the club’s all-time leading scorer.
Owumi spoke to surreyscorchers.co.uk about his delight in signing with Scorchers: "I am pleased to joined the Scorchers franchise and can't wait to suit up for Creon and the organization.
“Since being in the league surrey has had a great fan base and can't wait to win some silverware for the organization."
Outside of the BBL Owumi has spent time playing professional basketball in the likes of Macedonia, France and Libya while also being a published author, writing three books including an autobiography focusing on his time with the African nation.
He will join Tayo Ogedengbe who recently re-signed for his third season at Surrey Scorchers, with further announcements due in the coming weeks.

BBL All-Stars Basketball Championships
Fans will get their first chance to watch Alex in action next season as he leads his side out at the first ever British Basketball All-Stars Basketball Championships at The O2 Arena in September.
