Lovell Cook joins Scorchers!

Lovell Cook

Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of American guard Lovell Cook ahead of the BBL Championship.

The 29-year-old, from New Orleans, Louisiana, joins Creon Raftopoulos’ side for the league campaign after spending last season playing for Atletico Nacional in Panama.

The 6’7 guard has a wealth of BBL experience, having previously played for the London Lions and the Bristol Flyers. He was part of the Lions team during the 2014/15 season, as his 16 points per game helped the team reach the BBL play-off final.

Sometimes as a coach you can become a fan of some players. I remember Lovell’s first year when he was with the London Lions, I was really impressed with him. The reason we went for him is because of his BBL experience. I feel he’s a natural scorer who will fit perfectly into our style of play. Bringing in Lovell I think he will contribute on both ends of the court, I’ve seen him apply himself defensively. On the offensive end he’s capable of getting us a basket when we need one.

Cook also suited up for the Flyers during the 2016/17 season, averaging 10 points per game during his tenure. He now returns to the British Basketball League to strengthen the Scorchers play-off chase.

You can see Lovell in action at SSP on Saturday as we take on the Bristol Flyers!
