Scorchers come into this match looking to record their second victory in a row over Worcester this season, this time in the BBL Championship when the teams meet each other on Friday evening.

The last time they faced each other was in the BBL Cup quarter-finals in November. On that occasion, Surrey comprehensively won 94-74. While the other time they met was in the league in October, when Wolves won 90-82.

‘Key Game’

Scorchers win over Leeds Force last weekend represented their third league win in a row. That win saw Surrey firmly cement their place in 8th position in the table, and with Wolves sitting just one place above them, a win could be critical for their play-off hopes. Scorchers also know that victory is vital to level their head-to-head league record with Wolves, a factor that could be crucial come the end of the season.

Wolves, on the other hand, have picked up some impressive victories recently, and they’ll be full of confidence coming into this one. In their last two matches, they managed to defeat 4th placed London Lions and 2nd placed Newcastle Eagles and just before those two games they narrowly lost to Bristol Flyers who are racing up the table.

Alongside the league, a win for either team will give them bragging rights coming into the BBL Trophy quarter-final where they have been drawn against each other on the 5th of February.

Ones to Watch:

Scorchers
Quincy Taylor’s produced a stunning performance last weekend as the point guard scored 27 points and picked up 5 assists against Force, which saw him make the BBL All-Star bench for that week. Will Neighbour will be another player to look out for, as his 18pts last week saw him pass the 300pts mark for the season.

Coach Creon will also be expected to hand a debut appearance to new signing Gabriel McCray, who was in attendance at the win against Leeds last Saturday but has only arrived in the country 24 hours previous.

Wolves
Danny Huffor is the team’s top scorer this season with 222pts while Jermel Kennedy isn’t too far behind on 215pts. And their partnership could be important for Wolves continued success.
