Game Night Volunteers needed!

Surrey Scorchers is looking for volunteers in a range of roles for the upcoming 2017/18 BBL season!

Volunteering for Surrey Scorchers is a great way to get involved in the Scorchers Game Day family and be part of a fun and friendly community
 
The roles include:
 
Door Staff:

– Checking fans tickets upon arrival.
– Stamping their hand as entry into the arenas.
– Assisting with locating and guiding fans to their seats.
– A friendly face with great customer service skills. 

Sound & Music Operator:

– Controls the arena sound system to play music and stings pre-game, during and post-game.
– Must be able to source music and stings as well as software to operate (though this can be discussed if not possible).

Screen Operator:

– Controls the begin screen in the arena on game days to display sponsor and team logos, in-game graphics and advertising messages.
– Good knowledge of the rules of basketball required.
– All software and graphics provided. 

Floor Mopper:

– During time outs, quarter breaks and half-time required to mop the court removing any dirt to ensure the court is safe to play on.
– You may also be required to run on if the referee/a player calls you.
– You will be based courtside underneath one of the baskets and therefore you have a great view of the game!

Officials Chaperone:

– Accompany floor officials from the court to their changing room at half-time and end of game.
– Will carry a radio and understand how to call for support if necessary (training will be given).
– Ability to keep calm under pressure. 

MC:

– You will be the official game night entertainment to all the fans in attendance.
– Interact and engage with crowd.
– Introduce players onto the court, make announcements and shout outs in regards to the game and for fans birthday’s.
– Work closely with our Mascot Scorcher!

Spotlight Operator:

– Key part of the players introduction at the beginning of the game
– Full training will be given
– As this role is at the start of the game you may take up another volunteer role for the fresh of the match if you would like! 

Entertainment Crew

– Will work with Game Night Coordinator assisting with a number of activities including games on court, games within the fans, assisting fans on court for games, interacting with Scorcher, helping with birthday parties.
 
Scorcher:

– Key part of game night, it wouldn’t be one without our mascot Scorcher!
– Gymnastic/Dance background would be required and someone who is willing to get stuck with the crowd and get them interacting

NEW! Production Scorer:

– Work alongside the production company of LiveBasketballTV updating the score and time on a laptop, in reference to the main scoreboard 

All volunteers must be over 16 years of age
