Scorchers defeated the Glasgow Rocks 84-82 to take a slender lead into the second leg of the BBL Play-Off Quarter-Finals.

The Surrey Sports Park crowd rallied the team home who fought back to win their 11th consecutive home game.

Tony Hicks led the way with 30 points and seven assists, while Gerald Robinson and Tayo Ogedengbe added 14 points apiece.

A game of two styles was a close affair from the very beginning as Glasgow pounded the ball inside for some easy lay-ups.

Scorchers remained firm and scored multiple three-pointers to end the first quarter tied at 23-23.

Kieron Achara took control for Glasgow in the second quarter, converting multiple jumpshots to give Glasgow a five-point lead at the interval.

Scorchers didn’t lie down and some tough defence resulted in a low scoring third quarter. Josh Steel caught fire for Scorchers but his points were not enough to cut down Glasgow’s lead.

Tony Hicks took control in the fourth quarter, with his passes leading to multiple three-pointers to bring Scorchers all the way back to a tied game. Ogedengbe and Robinson both scored from long range to keep the game tied.

Clutch free-throws from Hicks with eight seconds on the clock gave Scorchers a two-point lead.

Glasgow failed to convert in the dying embers and Scorchers confirmed their victory in the first leg.
