Scorchers fought back from a 19 point deficit and came within six points of the Leicester Riders, but ultimately fell 88-78 to the Champions.

Scorchers held Leicester to just nine points in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough to knock off the table toppers.

Tony Hicks lead the way for the Scorchers with 17 points, with Tayo Ogedengbe following with 16.

Gerald Robinson kicked off the game with back-to-back three points, but the Riders showed why they are Champions, storming out to a 29-19 lead after ten minutes.

The second quarter was even with both teams trading baskets. Leicester were able to pull away late in the half and went into the break with a comfortable 53-37 lead.

Scorchers weren’t going down without a fight and troubled Leicester in the third quarter thanks to some tough defence and an impressive offensive spell from Tony Hicks and Alex Owumi.

Despite heading into the final quarter with a 19-point deficit, Scorchers stormed out to a 7-0 run in the first two minutes of the half, and were soon within single digits off Leicester. Hicks and

Steel lead the team to within six points, but Leicester showed composure at the free throw line in the closing moments to win the game 88-78.
