Scorchers were defeated by Worcester Wolves 61-76 at Surrey Sports Park after a string of turnovers cost them.
The team had 19 combined turnovers and were held to just 33 points through the first three quarters.

The Scorchers won the final quarter by 28 points to 17, virtually doubling their points tally in the process.


Tayo Ogedengbe lead the way for the Scorchers with 16 points, while Caylin Raftopoulos scored a season-high 14 points from the bench.

The problems began early for the Scorchers, with multiple turnovers and missed shots costing them dearly as Worcester stormed out to a 26-11 lead.

Things didn’t improve in the second period as once again Scorchers couldn’t score consistently.

They defence did significantly improve as Worcester only extended their lead by one point through the quarter, ending the half trailing 24-40.

Offensive struggles continued after the interval, with Scorchers only scoring nine points in the third, leaving Worcester 59-33 ahead going into the fourth quarter.

The Scorchers did finally spring into life in the fourth quarter, with Tony Hicks, Ogedengbe and Raftopoulos scoring at will as the game drew to a close.

Despite the scoring barrage, it was all too little too late for the Scorchers, who lost their first match in three games as Worcester ran out 76-61 victors.
