The Scorchers Basketball Foundation made a much awaited announcement on Friday evening, confirming that Dux will be a guest of the club at Scorchers final home game of the season on Sunday 17th April.
This day coincides with the first Brian Dux Junior Tournament at Surrey Sports Park, which will see local teams go head-to-head in the special event.
Tragedy struck Dux in November 2007 when he was involved in a car accident in Chobham, which cut his illustrious basketball career short, shocking fans across the world who knew and loved one of the sport's biggest talents in the UK.
Since then Brian has made huge steps towards recovery with the support of his family and friends back at home in Buffalo, New York. The visit will be his first return to Surrey since the accident.
Brian will be on hand to support the junior teams, before enjoying Scorchers game against the Leeds Force the same day.
The Foundation will shortly set up an online page for fans to contribute towards Brian’s special trip to the UK, with all donations welcome no matter how big or small. Fans can also donate directly by emailing foundation@surreyscorchers.co.uk.
Junior clubs wanting to take part in the Brian Dux Tournament at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday 17th April should email info@surreyscorchers.co.uk for more information. All teams taking part will receive free tickets to the Scorchers BBL Championship game.
Former hero of Surrey basketball Brian Dux is set to return to the South, nine years after almost losing his life in a car accident. He was a star of the team formerly known as the Guildford Heat. He's currently getting rehab in the States but next month he'll be back in Surrey for the first ever Brian Dux junior tournament. We hope to catch up with him then.
