We asked Coach Creon to relive his unmissable moment from last season.
With the 2018/19 British Basketball League season fast approaching, Surrey Scorchers will once again be looking ahead to another campaign at Surrey Sports Park.
Having enjoyed their most successful season to date in 2017/18, Head Coach, Creon Raftopoulos, was quick to praise the fans for their support.
“You’ve made our home court a fortress, and we plan to keep it that way.”
When asked to choose his favourite moment from last season, Coach Creon couldn’t forget finishing the season at Surrey Sports Park with their most important win.
“We had a number of well fought victories last year, but I’d have to say our best moment was getting our final win in the play-offs against Glasgow Rocks at Surrey Sports Park.
"It was a great feeling to end off our season at home in front of our amazing fans."
He went onto to emphasise the importance of the crowd to the team for the season ahead.
“Our fans were so valuable to us throughout our last two seasons, and we can only hope we see them come back to make Surrey Sports Park one of the toughest venues to visit in the BBL.
"Our fan’s energy and commitment to the team drove us to a number of victories and helped us maintain our ‘it’s never over’ attitude.”
When we asked Creon how much he was looking forward to the season ahead, he gave some insight into signings for the newest Scorchers squad.
"You always feel excited going into a new season as we have everything to play for. The new season starts with the recruitment process of trying to retain the majority of our squad.
With the success and performances our guys displayed, they become targets for other teams in our league and teams abroad. This is never an easy process but we are doing all we can to retain and strengthen our team.
Once the squad is finalised we can go about setting our goals for the season."
Coach Creon doesn't want our fans to miss these moments next season, and wants you to join the team with #OneGoal by purchasing our Season Tickets for 2018/19.
