Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos looks ahead to Saturday’s game against the London City Royals – watch the full interview HERE
Scorchers are back on the road as we travel to Crystal Palace to take on Andrew Lawrence and the Royals.
The two teams met just three weeks ago at SSP, as the table-topping London team narrowly edged Creon Raftopoulos’ side 82-80.
But the reverse fixture will be a different game entirely, as both sides have added firepower to their roster.
The Royals will benefit from having Andrew Lawrence back in the team after recovering from injury.
The 6’1 guard missed out on the fixture at SSP but will undoubtedly boost the Royals offence, which already boasts Orlan Jackman, Will Neighbour and the Lavrinovic twins.
But Scorchers head into the game with Center Ryan Richards, who is set to make his return to the team at the weekend.
Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “The Lavrinovic twins bring a lot of size advantage to the Royals – a department we have been struggling in.
“We struggled rebounding in the paint, so I think Ryan (Richards) will help us in that department.
“Also he gives us someone to throw the ball to in the post as a 5 man.
“Posting up with Tayo (Ogedengbe) and Marcus (White) has proven successful for us, but having an actual big who passes well out of the post will help our shooters who we know are capable of getting hot on any given day.
“Andrew Lawrence is there go-to guy, a player I know really well and have a lot of respect for.
“He never played in the first game which brings another dimension, whereas us having Ryan Richards gives us another dimension.
“I’m looking forward to the game – Crystal Palace is an iconic venue to go and play in, so hopefully we can go and steal one on the road.”
Our next home game is on Sunday 17th November as we welcome the Plymouth Raiders to SSP – buy your tickets HERE
