Following Friday’s defeat on the road to Leeds Force, Scorchers Coach Creon Raftopoulos has called for a defensive focus as Surrey look to pick-up their league form.
Commenting after the weekend's 73-63 loss, Raftopoulos said:
“There needs to be a big focus defensively. Tayo lead from the front in defence as skipper, but anytime you have 20 turnovers in a game it’s going to be difficult.
“Obviously we’ve been struggling with injuries and Henry has been a big loss. He’s still recovering and now we have 2 weeks to get everyone fit and ready to go again at home to London Lions in front of our own fans."
Coach also had an update on the search for new roster additions following Desmond Lee's unanticipated departure early in the season.
"We’ve been working hard on a replacement for Dez Lee in the Point Guard position. It’s taking longer than we had hoped, but hopefully we’ll have a new addition in time for Lions’ visit.
'The squad are back in training today and we'll be working hard over the next fortnight to put to bed the wrongs of the last two defeats. On another day we could be sitting here with two more wins under our belts, but victories need to be earned in the BBL."
Scorchers are back in action at Surrey Sports Park against London Lions in the re-arranged fixture on Saturday 28 November, 7.00pm.
