Bristol Flyers exacted revenge for last weekend’s defeat with a commanding performance at the SGS WISE Arena.

It was a tough first-half for the Scorchers, as Flyers raced ahead to forge a 46-31 lead at the break. The hosts looked comfortable in hitting their three-point shot to overcome the Scorchers’ strong zonal defence.

After half-time, the Scorchers switched to a tough man-to-man defence and began to eat into the Flyers lead. Morakinyo Williams had top-scored for the Scorchers in the first-half with 10 points, and opened up the third quarter with a trademark mid-range shot.

Quincy Taylor started the comeback, hitting his free-throws as the Scorchers ate into a 16-point deficit, and were further boosted by QT’s renewed three-point accuracy. With five minutes remaining in the game, the Flyers’ lead was down to 8, and Williams – who finished on 20-points and 4 assists – was on fire with his mid-range shooting to give the Bristol defence a rough ride.

Quincy and Tayo Ogedengbe combined to further reduce the arrears, and soon Tayo hit a particularly timely three-pointer to halve the deficit, having at one point been 20-points back.

It was too little, too late, though, and Flyers saw the game out with a slam dunk which sealed a seven-point victory.
