Scorchers’ Media Volunteer Tom Bonnett looks back over an incredible season for Coach Creon’s side.

Scorchers were defeated by the Glasgow Rocks in the BBL Play Off quarter finals, bringing their season to an end.

They finish the season with their unbeaten home streak intact as they clinched their 11th straight win at Surrey Sports Park in the first leg.

Their fourth quarter momentum from the home tie didn’t carry over to the reverse fixture, with Glasgow winning at the Emirates Arena to progress to the semi-finals.

Scorchers’ impressive 20-13 record also earned Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos the Basketball Journalists Association’s Coach of the Year award for the 2017/2018 season.

He coached the team to fifth in the BBL standings, their highest position since rebranding as the Surrey Scorchers.

Tony Hicks is also a frontrunner for the BBL MVP award. The 24-year-old finished as the second leading scorer in the BBL with 19.5 points per game.

His clutch free-throws against Glasgow at Surrey Sports Park sealed the victory in the first leg.

Many players have turned to social media to thank the fans for their support this season.

Elias Desport captioned an Instagram post with: “A huge thank you to the fans, coaches, and my teammates.”

Hicks also took to Instagram. He said: “I have to say thank you to the Surrey Scorchers management for giving me an amazing opportunity to play basketball for a living. Forever grateful for my coaches and teammates for pushing us all together through this journey. Could never leave out the amazing fans at Surrey Sports Park.”
