The Opposition

National League Division One outfit the Reading Rockets were formed in 1997 and hit the ground running in Division Three, securing promotion in their first season on court and finding themselves in Div One following a restructure of the National Basketball League.

Since then Rockets have enjoyed a fruitful run of season finishes, including league titles in 2008/09, 2012/13 and 2013/14 and play-off final wins on five occasions in 16 years.

A 15-9 win record saw them finish 6th in NBL Division One and a take the runners-up spot in the National Cup.

The Ones to Watch

6’9” British guard Ben Allison brings an envious basketball pedigree to the court for Rockets, having spent time at Davidson College in the US alongside NBA star Stephen Curry, and scored an impressive 34pts in Reading’s last run out against the Bradford Dragons.

US imports D’Montre Edwards and Antonio Robinson have also provided significant contributions this season and will be big threats to Scorchers’ debut BBL Trophy journey.

The Roster

Alhaji-Allie Fullah will feature for Scorchers following his 14pt debut against the Newcastle Eagles last Friday, with fellow new signing Jordan Williams expected to make his debut against the Rockets after receiving international clearance.

The Form

The Berkshire outfit are enjoying an impressive season thus far, sitting 4th in the table with a 7-3 win record and two games in hand over the trio of sides above them.

A 71-88 win on the road at Bradford last time out will give their key players confidence against a BBL Championship side.

Rockets last 5 games: WLLWL

Coach Creon will be keen to see his Scorchers side end a disappointing run of results and secure their first win since December 11th.

Scorchers have been on the receiving end of five defeats on the bounce in the league, including a 99-67 loss at Newcastle last Friday, and will see a BBL Trophy run as a confidence booster for the whole roster.
