Surrey Scorchers would like to update fans on Henry Wilkin’s current condition following his worrying injury sustained against the Plymouth Raiders on Saturday evening.

Wilkins went down after a heavy knock a little over a minute into the game and fell awkwardly causing concern for Scorchers staff and fans alike.

Following a lengthy delay while Henry was kept safe on court, he was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for an x-ray, which confirmed that there is no lasting damage.

Doctors diagnosed Henry with mild concussion and soft tissue damage and he was sent home with his family shortly after.

Henry would like to thank all Scorchers fans for their patience shown on Saturday night and the waves of well-wishing messages that he has received from across the basketball world.

Franchise Director Gavin Baker was also praiseworthy of those who reacted: “It was obviously an unpleasant thing to see. You never know what to expect when a player goes down like that.

“We took precautionary measures to ensure that whatever the outcome, Henry was as safe as possible. Our staff reacted admirably and I would like to thank them for their professionalism.”

Scorchers Physio Danielle Surrett, who was on hand to assist Henry after his fall, will closely monitor his recovery in the coming weeks.

We will of course keep fans updated as he progresses.
